What is the difference between a steamer and a steam oven?

Steamers

A steam cooker prepares your food with water vapour. Thus, your food is treated very gently and all the flavour, vitamins and minerals are retained. Since Bosch steam cookers have their own water container, they do not need a separate water connection. With a steamer, you can prepare your food very gently and retain all the flavour, vitamins and minerals.

Steam ovens

Steam ovens are steam appliances that you can use to bake or steam. Or both at the same time. They use gentle water vapour with an additional hot air supply.

Where can I install a steamer or a steam oven?

Steam cookers or steam ovens can be installed in 550 mm deep tall cupboards or in 300 mm deep high-level units. If they are installed in a tall cupboard, you need an appliance that is 45 cm high (38 litres capacity). If you wish to install your steamer appliance in a high-level unit, choose one that is 38 cm high (22 litres capacity).

What should be noted when building in a steam cooker or steam oven?

Steam cookers and steam ovens should always be installed next to or above an oven or other appliance, not underneath. In this way, the steam can escape freely upwards when it is opened.

Are the different smells transferred if you are cooking several different foods?

Individual side dishes or complete meals can be prepared in a steam appliance – without smell transference.

What is the perfect appliance to go with a steam device?

Steam ovens and steam cookers with 45 cm installation height can be ideally combined with a 14 cm warming drawer. The combination has the same recess dimensions as a 60 cm oven.

What makes a steam appliance different from a microwave when it comes to thawing foods?

A microwave can be used to thaw out frozen foods especially quickly. A steamer retains more of the vitamins and flavour when it thaws your food, which is healthier.
